ReplyDeleteThe spoken word poem "A.D.D." by Rafael Casal has an effectivly engage on the viewer. The subject is giving the viewer the details of what A.D.D. people go threw like saying "in this corner an unbelievably blank white unanswered page of questions...". Rafael delivers the poem by saying it fast & looking at a paper. The language he is being both negative & positve, in english,& being serious about it by him telling the reader "lets do the equation: $24 for 30 pills, or roughly a month, which is 10 milligrams 100 bottles for every one gram... tell kids they are inferior then have them buy back their efficiency".
It was intreeging listening to his rap, he seemed so emotional when he was talking about the way schools work how social life, and teacher work at schools. It made me think about how hard it is for childred with add, how hard it is for them to focus. And how they have to "buy their benefits" to learn. It bothers me now, that the country gets all the money from the medicne. My favorite part when hes rapping, when his emotions of feiry come out and he tells his nephew to "pay no attention" It makes me hope that that child can stick up for himself because of rapheal.
ReplyDeleteThis poem effectively engages the reader, or listener. The way he rhymed some words throughout the poem made me concentrate more on what he was saying. The subject was that everyone can learn differently and ADD isn't always a bad thing, which also drew me in to this. When he says "If they ever tell you you cant focus, good. Pay them no attention" led me to believe that this poem was supposed to be something about being different.
ReplyDeleteThe poem A.D.D engages the listeners by the language and delivery. Te delivery is fast at the points where he is trying to make his point. Th poem starts out slow and gets faster. The poem uses strong language and talks about the medication for A.D.D. - stephanie feathers
ReplyDeleteI agree with you steph, I think that the delivery was fast to increase the veiwers attention. I also agree with you when you said that the peom goes slow, to faster because he wantes to get the point across. It definitly made me want to pay attention to the rap. I think he felt really strongly about the subject because it was about his nephew.
DeleteIn spoken word poem "A.D.D." by Rafael Casal the delivery is slow to begin with then gets faster towards the end. The changing speed of the poem helps the audience keep focused on the poem because it would be boring if the whole poem was at the same pace. The argument Casal is creating is that corporations that make the A.D.D. medicine are diagnosing people with A.D.D. even if they do not have it for economical gain, "means it's a 42,283,200,000 dollar industry? its brilliant, tell kids they are inferior then have them buy back their efficiency and at first I thought attention deficit must be some new epidemic sh*t til' I found U.S. consumes globally 90 percent of it". Casal uses rhyme to keep the reader interested because the poem would not be as interesting without the rhymes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with dylan and how the corrprut corruption is trying to make money off these people. And how the delivery Casal used rymes and sped up his words to keep the audience interested
DeleteDylan I like how you are using direct quotes
Deletei like how you used direct quotes and how you showed how corrprut productions are selling this medicane to kids who dont even have A.D.D.
DeleteIn the spoken word poem A.D.D by Rafeal Casal the subject was how he was afraid that people would think his nethew had A.D.D. And the delivery began at a slow pace and then sped up so the audience would stay interested. Also he talked about corrpeut corruption and how they are subscribing medication to people who think they have A.D.D. just to make a quick dollar off of them. Rafeal uses rymes to help keep the audience interested to besisdes the fact that he speeds up the way he talks and what not.
ReplyDeleteThe spoken word poem A.D.D. is a poem that starts out slow, and picks up towards the middle. Casal speeds up an starts to rhyme to get the audience's attention. this is an effictive way of keeping somebody interested because if its a challenge to understand, people will continue to listen until they do. I think this is a good delivery of the subject, it is common and important to be aware of.
ReplyDeleteIn the spoken word poem A.D.D. by Rafeal Casal, the subject was how he thought his nefue had A.D.D wasn't a bad thing and how he didn't want him to have a hard time with other people telling him that he learned wrong. He delivered the wrap slow at first but getting increasingly fast the more it went on. It was a wrap style but heused uncommon words like "inferior" witch cought my attention as he continued. He also made an argument about kids haveing to go on riddlen and how half the people prescribed don't need it and it's corperations trying to get their money.
ReplyDeleteIn the spoken word poem A.D.D by Rafeal Casal the subject was that people thought that his nephew had A.D.D because he didnt stay on focas. The delivery was how he gave attitude and how he made people laugh when he was talking about his nephew and he began at slow pace to keep people listening but then he started to speak really fast. The laungege is that at the end of the sentence it ryhmes with the word before it. He used great vocabulary.
ReplyDeletein the spoken word poem "A.D.D" by rafael casal. He decribes what A.D.D is and how it affects people on concentrating. His nephew sean has A.D.D and it is hard for him to cocentrate. Also he decribes the medication for this disorder.and how it is easy to get it for a dollar. rafael rhymed alot in his poem.He speds up and slows down in his poem.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dylon when he said that the corperations that made the medecin were just out for money. I think it makes sence because 3/4ths of the companies are owned by america.
ReplyDelete"They'll say in class he seems lost, I'll say his mind has free sight, but nowadays we raise young ones to be machine-like, because big industries need employees who are machine right" this detail is effective because it tells everyone exactly how the schools work now.
ReplyDeleteIN the spoken word poem A.D.D by Rafeal Casal the subject was that Rafeal was afarid that people would think of Sean as different because he has A.D.D. Rafeal did a good job of trying to speed up the poem to keep the audience sucked in to waht he was saying. He talks about the how medicine is very high priced and hard to get. Rafeal doesnt want people to think of Sean as different in a bad way but a good way.
ReplyDeleteIn the spoken word poem “A.D.D” by Rafeal Casal he explains how corporations are making tons of money of off people who have A.D.D. and how there is nothing different about people who have A.D.D. He was also saying how his nephew has A.D.D and how he is struggling in class and how he is always being pointed out because of it. Rafeal see’s the bad and “set up“ things about the system.
ReplyDeleteThe use of language is effective because casal uses the speed to intrest thr listener. He goes from fast to slow to make sure the listener knows what he is saying. he also talks about his arguement by not ryhming which makes the audience listen to what he is saying. "they may tell you're inferior" this qoute was talking about how the ADD medicine companies are diagnosing people with ADD for their own capital gain. his delivery is fast and emotional to keep the audience engaged.
ReplyDeleteIn Rafeal Casals spoken word poem about A.D.D he is talking about his nefew sean. He talks about what sean does and what the economey does about it. Rafeal also talks about how much all of the medicin cotd for sean and that all the econemy wants is money. In his poem his delivery starts slow then it begins to pick up when he starts to get into the heart of his poem. In his sdelivery he also rymes a little bit and uses alot of hand motions. The one line that i think stood out was whe he said "if they ever tell you you cant focous good pay them no attention" Really helped people understand that A.D.D will not beat him down.
ReplyDeletethe spoken word poem a.d.d by rafeal casal was really cool . it was ingadging it alot , he really stood up for his nefew . it was like a rap he spoke really fast . the way he said it and the rhythm keept people focused .like how he said "at first i thoought attention deficit must be on some epidemic sh*t til i foound out the u.s comsumes globally 90 percent of it diagnose you infeiror so the privatized medics get your money in the coountry where you go broke buyin your benifts ." the rhyming and the rhythm really keep the people intrested and wanting to watch

ReplyDeleteThe poem A.D.D. by rafael casal is engaging because, how he speaks and rhymes and the language he uses help the audience understand what he means more clearly. The way he words his sentence is still clearly althoiugh he is still saying them really fast. So i think that the poem A.D.D. by rafael casal is a good poem beucase of the language he uses and the way he words it.
ReplyDeleteThe poem "Letter to a playground bully" By Andrea Gibson has may different speeds and volumes. This poem was especially engaging at the part where is says "Some peole are like acctics ive heard monsters in their walls and shaky stares". This is engageing because it uses synonyms to give it two different meanings."i am not always crying i am just thawing outside if the lines". This is a metaphor that catches peoples attention by makeing people think about what she is saying. stephanie feathers
ReplyDeleteI agree with abby that the rap was interesting and that what the people who sell the medication for A.D.D shouldent be getting money for it because it is not a real problem it is just how then people are. i also agree that raphel was very emotional because his nephew means alot to him.

ReplyDeletein the spoken word poem by A.D.D by rafeal casal the subject was about his nephew. he used alot of rhyming in his poem. his words are clear but he says them really fast then it gets slower. so i think that the poem by rafeal casal was a goog poem because of his us of language.
ReplyDeleteThe spoken word poem "A.D.D" by Rafael Casal was very engaging. Casal effectively used language and delivery to draw the viewer in. One way he did this was to use rhyme. For example: "Clearly it ain’t trouble with payin attention. He’d just rather be playing invention. So as I investigate your motives for why you’d try to medicate him I beg to question..." This part is particularly engaging because the use of rhyme and rhythm makes the viewer pay attention to what he is saying and how he is saying it.
