Write a well-constructed paragraph that describes to the reader one of your first days in Arts in Education. How did you feel? What did you experience? How did your experience influence your thoughts and feelings about the program?
Key Components of a Good Response:
- There is a topic sentence that restates the prompt.
- The paragraph allows the reader to visualize the experience.
- The paragraph uses descriptive words that "bump up" their vocabulary and engage the reader. These words are IN ALL CAPS.
- You received a "mini-thesaurus" with many different descriptive words. Reference that to find different words to use to enhance your vocabulary.

On our first day of Arts in Education, our teaching artist, Meg, asked us to create a sculpture using our bodies, in groups. At first nervous. She only gave us a short amount of time so I felt RUSHED and the WARM room suddenly felt like a SUANA. I could hear the HUM of other groups talking. My group decided to make a TALL, ROBUST sculpture. We stood in STRAIGHT line and STRETCHED our arms out, alternating the direction that our arms pointed. Working together as a group allowed me to feel UNRUFFLED and CALM since we acted as one.
ReplyDeleteWe had our first day of Arts in Education when I saw the teaching artist I instantly remembered her from seventh grade. She's a dancer named Meg. We talked about what we'd be doing in Arts in Education. Then we played a game where we had to make a UNIQUE sculpture with our group my group made a fountain. I was the fish in the middle! I think my group was the most CREATIVE out of all of the groups. Also it was kind of WEIRD to be in the middle of the room as a fish. We got alot of laughs. It was kind of CONFUSING but I guess it was FUN.
ReplyDeleteThis is Marum by the way.
Deletetoday meg was going through the proformances for the community night thats coming up and me and zach squazza were picked as teachers and i thought it was pretty cool
DeleteDuring the first day of Arts in Education, we had to do an activity where we made human sculptures. I thought the teacher Meg was going to have us do a name game. So when we did this AWKWARD activity I was surprised. It was CONFUSING and TOUGH to make a sculpture in only a few minutes and without the use of props. It was also UNCOMFORTABLE for me because we were in a WEIRD postion where we all linked arms. This activity led me to believe that the program would allow us to get up out of seats, express ourselves, and leave our comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteOn our first day of Arts in Ed. we got introduced to Meg.She gave us a brief background of this program and some music terms we might need to know for this project. After that, we got out of our seats, moved them so we had a big open area. We got into groups and had to make a FRAGILE sculpture using all of our bodies. None of the groups wanted to go because they were SHY. Everyone was SCURRYING to get their turn over with. I was really nervous and scared, I was BLOTCHY with redness. But I got over it and had fun making a sculpture with my classmates. This experience led me to believe this will be a fun
ReplyDeleteOn our first day of arts in education, I have to admit that I felt terrified at first. When I walked into the room, I grew more nervous by the second as I saw the desks pushed back to make room for each one of us to dance. However, once Meg introduced herself and gave us a brief introduction, I began to feel more comfortable. I had expected that we would immediatly start dancing a complex, choreographed routing, and was reliefed when we started out just forming simple sculptures in groups of five or six. After a short time period of just ten minutes or so, I could see that the majority of the class had become more relaxed with the activity. I belief that although this program may feel awkward to most of our class at first, it's a great way to push us out of our comfort zones and experience new things.
ReplyDeletei like arts and ed because ilke to move
ReplyDeletei like to move but not to dance.
DeleteOn our first day of Arts in Ed we ,made a sculpture with our bodies. It was very wierd because we had to use our bodies to make a sculpture and make any kind of shape we could think of. We had to get in groups and she told us about her program and how to do it. It was fun each day we had it and we did different things.
ReplyDeleteThe first day we had arts in ed, I had a NEUTRAL feeling. I wasn't glad, nor mad. The teacher, Meg, had us do an activity where we had to 'sculpt' ourselves into a sculpture. My group OBVIOUSLY had no idea what to do so we RELUCTANTLY made a fountain sorta thing. There was some CONFLICT on who does what, but after a few minutes we all AGREED on what we did in the sculpture. And I thought we did a FANTASTIC job.
ReplyDeleteOn my first day of Arts in Education we chose from different pieces of
ReplyDeletewriting, one paragraph that our whole group agreed on. This sentence
would be UNIQUELY incorporated into a dance. Another INTERESTING thing
about Arts in Education for me, was that when I heard that the name of
our teacher was Meg Agnew I almost whooped in ASTONISHMENT. She was the
director of many COLORFUL plays I had been in at my old school! Knowing
all this, I think that Arts in Education is an INTERESTING, NEW
experience.
In the first day of Arts in Ed. we expressed ourselves by making sculptures with our bodies. I thought it was very awkward and weird because this was our first time meeting our Arts in Ed. teacher. In my group most of us didnt know what to do because we were not really confortable doing the sculptures in front of or class mates. But, finally we did break out of our comfort zones and got the guts to show the class.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first started Arts and education I was kind of excited. I like the idea of getting up out of our seats and moving around. But I have to say the activity was NOTHING like what I THOUGHT we were going to do. I thought it was really AWCKWARD at first because everyone else felt awckward but then when we got comfortable everyone else started to get CREATIVE. I like the idea of TRYING something new.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first started Arts and Eduaction I was exxcited because I like the idea of getting up out of our seats. But I have to say the the first ACTIVITY was not what I thought it would be. We had to make human SCULPTURES and I thought it was kind of ackward because no one was really giving ideas. But after awhile everyone got COMFORTABLE and started getting CREATIVE.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alex because it was very awkward when no one gave ideas to those who were presenting their human sculpture.

On our first day od Arts in Ed, we learned about human sculpture. The teaching artist engaged us by asking us to create sculptures with our bodies in our groups. It was rather nerve-racking because we had to show it in front of our class. My group's sculpture was of several people making up a fountain and another person STROLLING by and OBSERVING. She had the other people in the class describe the sculpture we made with our vocab words like space and negative space. It's quite DISORIENTING to be the ones under the microscope instead of watching people present for you. Another thing that made making the sculpture hard was that we had to be quick and CONCISE with our communication because we were only given a few minutes to decide on what our sculpture would look like. Even though I like to move around when I learn, I don't think I like being SCRUTINIZED when I haven't had time to prepare. I guess on of the things Arts in Ed is designed to teach us is to not be afraid of being in front of people and expressing ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI dont like the aie thing because its not real interresting. Also somme of the stuff we do is kinda of strang. So thats my oppion on the aie class.
ReplyDeleteyou got that one right kideo
DeleteI dont like the aie class cause its not fun. Some of the stuff we do is not very eith grade material. So thats my oppion on the aie class
ReplyDeleteI do agree rich that this time arts in ed wasnt as fun as last year. Last year we had music so we made cool rythms with random noises. Then i remember in gym we made a cool rythm was peoples bodies and stuff. That was acually fun in my opiniun.
DeleteOn the first day of Arts in Ed, I remember standing awkwardly with with people I was grouped with, trying to figure out how to make a human sculpture. It was definitely a strange experience, because I didn't really know what a "human sculpture" was. Meg encouraged us by saying that there wasn't a wrong answer, and that we should all just use our imaginations. Arts in Ed may be a bit uncomfortable for some at first, but maybe it's a great opportunity to learn new things so stepping outside of our comfort zone will be a little easier.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily that it was a little awkward the first day.
DeleteCaitlyn:
ReplyDeleteon our first day of arts in ed i had no idea what was going hapen because i dont dance. I felt NERVOUS and CONFUSED but i played along and ended up liking it. Its no more then moivng ur body into diffrent positions to make art and i think itll end up being alot of fun in the end.
On the first day of arts in education I was a bit skeptical. I thought, 'Here we go again, this'll probably be LAME.' This thought was immediatly proved by the body sculptures that we made. However as I walked out of the English room I realized I had loads of FUN. The teacher was nice and the art is INTERESTING not BORING. Art in Education is based on keeping your mind open, which can be very hard. The teacher, Meg, though finds ways to make her activities TEENAGER-FRIENDLY and AMAZINGLY FUN. Arts in Education is truly EDUCATIONAL and FUN all at the same time (who knew that was possible!).
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jade, I too was terrified that first day of Arts in Ed.
ReplyDeleteThe first day of arts and ed, we had to make sculpture's with our bodies. It was intresting to see if we all could work together to achive what are arts and ed teacher, Meg wanted. It was fun to learn new thing, nut a little nerveracking.
ReplyDeleteOn our first day of Arts in Education i felt really AWKWARD. We were put into groups and we had to make a CRAZY sculpture with our bodies. Meg, the arts in ed teacher, was very FRIENDLY so instantly i felt more COMFORTED. The sculptures our groups were making were very UNIQUE and STRANGE. Making these sculptures was a great way to push out of our comfort zones. I think everyone tried something thta they had never experienced before.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jade that this program puts us out of our comfort zones when we have to experience new things. Normally it's hard to do group activites because usually there is one person that is the undecided leader, but with this activity we all had to work together because we would all be equally participating in making the sculpture. This activity also taught me to improvise because we only had a few minutes to come up with an original idea and we were stumped. Once we finished though I felt like I had a better understanding on what we would be doing this year during Arts in Education.
ReplyDeletei agree with katarina it was definently pushed out of our comfort zones which mad us feel uncomfortable
Deletei agree with katarina's comment because i think that the dancing for arts in education was very confusing. The dancing was tough and awkward especially because im not really the dancing type.
ReplyDeleteIn arts and education on the first day we made sculptures with our bodies. i felt awkaward and embarassed. On the second day we made a list of feelings and had to do one action to represent that feeling with our bodies. Then we got with a partener and put our two actions together to start making part of a dance. I felt a little awkward and at first was confused!
ReplyDeleterichie i agree with you!
ReplyDeleteon the first day of arts in ed we made sculptures with our bodys. my group was jamie josh and me. we made our bodys a triangle scupture.we called it the human triangle.another group had a fountain with a man walking by. the only person i know was in that group was mike and he was the guy walking by.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jessica's comment because i felt the same way i never heard of making human sculptures ever. So it was new and exciting. And also i never dance so it was kinda hard for me too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jade. It definitely felt awkward for me at first. But it is a great way to try something new rather than doing our usual routine in English.
ReplyDeleteOn the first day of arts in education it felt very awkward and i was definitely out of my comfort zone.We had to make human sculptures with are classmates, and we didn't get to choose who we were with.Even though it was scary and i wasn't sure about it, it was fun because we didn't just have to sit and read.Arts in education was fun even though i wasn't expecting it ti be and went into class with a bad attitude i still had fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily it was very nerve racking to show the whole class our sculpture.I also agree that it was hard to figure out what sculpture to do in the short period of time we had.
ReplyDeleteTotally Agree with Jade on this one this is something ive never done beofre
ReplyDeleteKevin...
ReplyDeletewell in arts and end it was pretty awkward showing people our sculptures but it was fun. It was a moment to remember doing whatever sculpture you wanted. I liked it i guess only for those reasons though .
I agree with everyone it was AWKARD hahah.
ReplyDeleteI agree with most of the people that it was very strange and ackward at first!
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way as Alex because at first I thought it was awkward about doing random dance moves but then I just got used to it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katarina. This activity was made for us to step out of our comfort zones and express ourselves.
ReplyDeleteYesterday in art's in Ed Meg had us break into groups. We picked a vignette for our group. The one in our group we picked was Jessica's but she was at lessons so we had Sarah in our group for that day. We read out the vignette that we picked for our group and we had to pick 3 words that described the passage. After that we had to come up with 4 moves and are group came up with mirroring eachother so Sarah and I mirrored eachother and Kyle and Zack mirrored eachother.
ReplyDeletewhen meg came yesterday it was our thrid doing arts and Eduaction. yesterday was really not that much of fun because we were in groups really not dancing or anothing. it was mostly about the moderin way of dancingof this time. i dont like arts and Eduaction.
ReplyDeleteokkk umm i thought at fist when meg told us we were gonna become creative movers that she was crazy but then when she split us up and had us creat a dance to express a story. The next class we created a movment to tell a story of our vingettes. Then meg had us create words to describe our vingettes and our word was confident.
ReplyDeleteArts in Education is by far great this year, yesterday we did a bit a freestyle dancing. When Meg told us to stand up I knew we were doing something with music, mostly because she had been fiddling with her stereo just moments before. The FIRST thing Meg had the class do once we'd stood up was set ourselves into a square. NEXT, she positioned our groups so we all faced one direction. THEN, she told us the person in front had to dance and those behind had to follow. Lucky me, I was in front! I felt humiliated at first but then I thought to myself, 'No one is watching except a handful of my friends.' So I moved and flowed to the beat of the song with my three 'followers' following me exactly as Meg had instructed them to. NEXT, we had to turn, so now it was Katarina's turn. THEN, it became Jamie's turn. FINALLY, it was Katie's turn and then this confusing activity would be done with. I was wrong. This activity was far from over, because AFTER THAT Meg asked each of us to come up with a word that represents the vignette that we chose amongst our four-person groups. That day Arts in Ed sure was exhausting but it was fun and beneficial for imagination too!
ReplyDeleteI do think that arts-in-ed is fun this year, but I enjoyed it more last year when it was all about music(obviously). I liked how we really had an end product last year, while we don't this year.
DeleteOn our third day of Arts in Ed we did an interesting exercise. We
ReplyDeleterejoined our groups from before. Then we were placed in different
positions so that we were facing the back of one of the members of our
group. Subsequently, Meg Agnew, the teacher turned on some
EXHILARATING music. Once that was done, the member of the group who
was in the front had to do a dance move. As soon as the music was
changed, the next person had to do a dance but everyone had to
INCORPORATE their own style into it. After everyone had taken their
turn we had to think of a word describing our paragraph.
When we met for arts in ed the third time we were split into groups of four people. First we picked one paragraph from a person's vinette project. Then we picked three unique words that we thought described the paragraph best. After that we chose the word that we thought showed most of the paragraphs meaning. Then we practiced each of the words movements. Next we tried to put all of the movements together to make a routine. When we were all done we were still thinking of different ways to make the routine better.
ReplyDeleteAlex you described the wholle clase exactly.
DeleteI agree with Katarina that having to be in front of people was very awkward on overwhelming. I still think that having to move in front of people makes me feel very vulnerable.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first went into the room and heard that we had to dance, I felt terrified that I would embarass myself, but I didn't. I thought it was really fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jade, it was very, VERY terrifying because I am not a good dancer.
ReplyDeletei like arts in ed so far this year but i liked it alot more last year because it was more of what i like to do compared to what we are doing this year.the third time we had art in ed we picked one persons vinnete then picked a word that described it and had to make some movements to match the word.
ReplyDeleteI love arts in ed so far but the only problem is that we had to dance which i do not like to do. Anyway we split up into four groups and then picked whoevers vinette to do and we picked mine. Then she said to tell us a few things that described it and we said for mine Scary, Gross, and Dramatic. Then she asked for us to make a routine to do that matched the descriptions. Then we put all the movements together to make a dance routine that we later presented.
ReplyDeleteThis year of arts in education, in my opinion, is a lot better then last year, i think i like it more because i like what were doing more. Also i feel like last year was more confusing then this year. Also i like how were getting out of our comfort zones more.
ReplyDeleteON my first day of Arts in education it was a little weird. IT was weird for me because i had to dance with josh holmes and i usually dance with my other friends (girls). After a while i got used to it and i was OK. I really enjoyed the first even though i was a little quite. Our teacher really helps me. She makes me feel important and tells me that my ideas were great i am really looking forward to dancing in arts in education!!!!
ReplyDeleteREDO: In our first day of arts in education I felt very INEPT. First we got into groups of four. Then we were told to make sculptures with our bodies. I thought that it was very BIZZARE. After we made our sculpture we had to show it to the whole class and they had to tell us what they saw in it. For me that was very INTIMIDATING.I thought that it was MAGNIFICENT that we got to tell everyone what we saw in the sculptures.
ReplyDeletearts and ed was interesting the first day becuase we made sculptueres with are bodys. it seemed a little wierd at first but it was interesting to hear the storys that people thought the human sculpture reprosented. i think that this arts and ed lesson offord an interesting learning expirience.
ReplyDeleteThe first days in arts and education were rather odd. On the first day we made body sculptures. My group made a circular formation. I like arts and education. I think its fun even tho it is rather odd. Arts and education has a lot of dancing and movement
ReplyDeleteRevision of blog 1
ReplyDeleteOn the first day of Arts in Ed, we met a lady named Meg. First she described what Arts and Ed was about and what we would be doing that day. So, On the first day we broke up into groups and try to make a scalpture using our bodies. I thought it was ROWDY in the classroom with all the groups. Everybody was SHOUTING across the room to other groups which I thought that was a little bit annoying because I was trying to focus on what i was trying to do in my group.
REDO:The first day of Arts in Education were rather FOREIGN. On the first day of Arts in Education we made body sculptures. My group made a strange circular sculpture. We were in a classroom and all the desks were pushed aside. I find Arts in Education to be amusing and entertaining. I think arts and ecuation is rather PLEASURABLE. During Arts in Education we practice dance and movement.
ReplyDeleteOn the first day of arts and education The activity was very boring. The fact that it was 8:00 in the morning did not help. I was so weary that even Zachery didn't keep me from dozing off in the beginning. Once we got to the activity i started to regain energy. We had to make sculptures out of are cells. The group that I was in was Timmy Kathrine an I. Are sculpture was Kathrine putting her arms on are shoulders and we all had are hoods up. I thought this activity was kind of awkward because every one stood looking at you like a painting on a Wall. the only things i did not like about this project was that it is way to early in the morning for me to dance.
ReplyDeleteWhen we practice for Arts In Education we are in Ms. O`Brien's room. As you enter Ms. O`Briens room, you first look to the left and there is a chalk board and further down on the wall is Ms.O`Briens desk and computer. Then when you hit the second wall, take a right and on the wall first is Ms. O`Brien's bookshelf. Keep following down the wall is the SMART board and even more bookshelves and a cabinent. Next keep on the wall and take a right when he hit the INTERSECTING wall. On that wall is two bookshelves, three windows and one desk that we put our composition notebooks on. Finally the last wall. On this wall there is a great big chalk board and tack boards. There is a PLETHERA of papers and notes pinned onto the board. After the boards there is 10 posters of common homophones. Last but not least, the door right where we started.
ReplyDeleteon our first day of arts and ed we had to get in groups. then we had to make sculptures with our body. i was really bored becuase we had to get in a circle. the class had to watch everyone do their.
ReplyDeletethe first day of arts and ed was different. we got into 4 groups and made movements that were still. when we made them we could make what ever we wanted to do and my group did a abstract shape.
ReplyDeleteArts in Ed. Blog Post 1-
ReplyDeleteThe first day of arts and ed was very strange (as are most). The first in particular was strange because it was ABNORMAL to what we would normally be UNDERTAKING in English class. On the first day we met Meg who told us the events we would be ENGAGING in throughout the AIE program. As we walked into the classroom and had a seat we were INSTRUCTED by Meg to get into groups with our classmates. After CONNECTING with our groups we were told to create a shape or FORMATION with our bodies that told a story or simply was interesting. The first day of arts and ed was odd but was the start to many even stranger, interesting but strange things we would do in the future.
On our first day of Arts and ed we were introduced our instucter Meg. She was very PEPPY lady who you can tell she loved her job of teaching kids about dance. So the first thing she did about teching us about dance is some of the vocab terms(fun). Then we started a game called the Sculpture Game. This game was very interesting because we had to get into groups. Then after that we had to make one FORMATION with all of our bodies. THe first day was very PLEASABLE but to me i would rather have music or something else than dance.
ReplyDeleteIn our first day of arts in education I felt very INCAPABLE. We got into groups of four first. Then we were told to make sculptures with our bodies. I thought that it was very STRANGE. After we made our sculpture we showed it to the whole class and they told us what their perspective of it was. For me that was very ALARMING.I thought that it was RADIANT that we got to tell everyone what we saw in the sculptures.

ReplyDeleteToday in arts and Ed we made sulptures with our bodies. we used BALANCE, posing and organization to do it. My group made a water fountain sculpture. Each person worked TOGETHER, to succesfully do it.
